Kayaking

A few weeks ago our guide group went kayaking at the Outdoor Activity Centre (OAC) in Sheffield. We split into small groups of four and we had half an hour each on the water. First we had to collect the kayaks and take them to the pond.

We then put on our lifejackets and the instructor told us all the safety procedures. He taught us how to paddle using the oars before we got in the water.

After that we finally got into the water!!

The pond was full of weeds and mud but it was fun. To the right of the pond was a shallow stream which was hard to get round and some of us got stuck! Luckily only one person fell in!!

There were lots of midges and we all got very wet, but it was still lots of fun! :-)

Some of us even learnt how to paddle standing up in the kayak!!

We recommend you try kayaking at the OAC.......
